Hello - thank you for joining me today! In this course, I will share my Doctoral Capstone Experience centering on the inclusion of occupational therapy services within a mental health setting. The topic of mental health and wellness is ever-present, yet many individuals across the United States struggle to find access to quality services that address their needs. Through this presentation, I will share the important role an occupational therapist serves within mental health care and the ways in which we can help individuals engage in meaningful activities and life skills. You will learn about current statistics regarding mental illness prevalence both nationally, as well as within the state of Iowa. You will be able to describe the role of occupational therapy in mental health treatment, including the types of interventions that might be used in this setting. Throughout this presentation, I will describe the methods I utilized to complete this capstone. In the end, you will be asked to complete a short knowledge check regarding the information covered in this course. Additionally, some portions of course material are available to download for viewing.
