This course supports the first eight chapters of the book, "Certifiable Optician". Topics addressed are:

• Metric system and conversions,

• basic physics of light,

• mirrors, flat, convex and concave,

• refraction and dispersion,

• prisms and lens forms,

• focal length and diopters,

• the lens clock and base curves,

• toric lenses, optical cross and transposing prescriptions.

These topics provide a solid base for courses now in production.
