Fun, useful, festive and short! This course aims to provide guidance on how to write Chinese calligraphy Fai Chun, a traditional Chinese new year decoration, for the upcoming Chinese New Year. This course is suitable for everyone - even if you do not know Chinese calligraphy or Chinese characters.

We have tweaked the course a bit so that you do not need the traditional Chinese calligraphy tools (often quite inaccessible) to complete the course. All you will need are red/orange A4 papers, a printer, a pair of scissors and a brush pen. We want everyone to be able to create Fai Chun decoration and get a taste of Chinese calligraphy after this course!

• 8 beautiful calligraphic Fai Chun decoration for Chinese New Year (2 different styles and 29 Chinese characters in total)

• A taste of writing Chinese characters

• Exposure to Chinese calligraphy, an ancient fine art that is widely considered prestigious

Please note:

This course does NOT cover traditional Chinese calligraphy techniques or skills. We structured this course as an interest course with a specific goal (create Chinese calligraphy Fai Chun decoration) in mind, and we will not be using traditional Chinese calligraphy tools. We have another course that covers different basic aspects of traditional Chinese calligraphy writing. Also, in line with Chinese calligraphy custom, we will be using traditional Chinese characters throughout this course.
