I imagine that for most of you it involved teaching on saying the "right" words and with the "right" formula. This teaching followed many of us from the "Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep..." type prayer taught to children into adult prayer books. These books give us specific words that are promised to give us specific results.

Most of us will say that these type prayers are not effective in the end or not very effective at best.

What if I were to tell you that there is a better way to pray? While the standard way people think about prayer and praying is not wrong [it has its place], there is another way to pray, an effective why to pray. It is not about words even though words at times may be involved. It is about what the words led us to. And that is what the real and effective prayer.
