How to bait cage and box traps (also called live traps) like a professional will explain how baits and lures work to draw and entice animals into traps. As wildlife become more accustomed to urbanized areas, you may find yourself confronting a situation where you need to trap a nuisance animal. This training details why baits and lures should be presented to animals in certain ways to improve trapping success. It also explains and shows specific tactics to improve bait and lure presentation to give your trap more "drawing power".

While information will be provided that discusses specific bait and lure recommendations for various species, specific bait and lure recommendations are not the focus of this course. (A list of suggested baits for common species of animals will be provided). This course is about the use and presentation of baits and lures so that you, the trapper, get the most effect from that bait and lure that you decided to use. In other words, this course teaches how to use the tool not about which brand of tool to use.
