Squats are one of the most universally performed and highly applicable movements to daily function. Everyone can benefit from incorporating some variation of a squat into their training routine. This includes both athletes in various sports, and the general population with little to no training experience.
Squats are a functional movement that involve multiple joints which are essential to daily movement patterns. Every time you stand up from a chair you are performing a portion of a squat. Getting up and down from the toilet is performing a squat.
Learning to squat correctly can improve your ability to perform daily functions, and can elevate your exercise routine to a superior level.
The squat movement will be taught throughout 3 sections in this course:
- The bodyweight squat
- The front squat
- The back squat.
The technique cues for the bodyweight squat are also relevant for the front and back squats, therefore it is essential to understand how to perform a bodyweight squat before progressing to a squatting with a barbell.
