DescriptionThis introductory course will present how to get Packet Tracer from Cisco, and how to use the simulation feature to peek into data frames.
This will be an exercise and hands-on led procedure on how to setup a small network using Packet Tracer, so that frames can be analyzed. This will lead to a better understanding of various transmission protocols such as TCP. The Three-Way Handshake for establishing a communication path will be explored by using Packet Tracer's simulator feature. With the simulator, you will be able to control the progress in time to freeze a frame at any stage during its migration through the network. You will also be able to peek into the frame's header and payload to complete your understanding of how protocols are executed.
This course will also serve as a refresher for students who have used previous versions of packet tracer but are now ready to learn, and use the new features that it offers. One such feature is the network physical view. This feature now allows the student to simulate actions taken in a real lab, suing networking racks and where physical boundaries exist.
You will be tasked to complete an exercise that uses the TCP protocol for the implementation of the HTTPapplication. To support your endeavor, the instructor will show you an example using ICMP where he demonstrates the simulator's capabilities of freezing frames at various stages and looking into the frames to understand the behavior of the devices involved in this communication.
