In these lessons, I will show you on practice how to develop a simple web application.

Mostly practice examples and theory that are necessary for understanding the project.

We will use a modern program language Kotlin that is widely being used for the development of Android, web, and desktop applications.

I will not go deep inside tools and frameworks that will be used but will describe basics and all things that are necessary to understand how our web app works.
The lessons are an entrypoint to web apps development and you can use the developed app as a start for your own application.

The application will have the following functionality:
- web UI in HTML,

- HTTP API,

- Kotlin backend,

- basic authentication,

- unit tests.

In these lessons, we will together go through the important stages of the modern software development process.

We will know which tools may help us to develop with pleasure and will face

- Integrated development environment Intellij IDEA.

- Team development environment - JetBrains Space.

- Version control system - git.

- Programming languages - Kotlin, Java, HTML.

- Framework for creating microservices and web applications - KTOR

and other cool and useful things.

The app that I will describe has not impressive UI BUT it has important parts of modern web applications.
If you will understand how it works you will be able to extend it and improve it as you want.
It should be very useful for those who don't know how to start!

As a bonus, most of the code that we will use is declarative and is understandable for both professionals and beginners.

I hope that you will see that creation of a real web application is not scary and difficult and it will give you the knowledge to dive deeper into the beautiful world of software development.
