The bagua straight sword is known as a unique and specific 'style owned' weapon that is mainly used in the bagua style (an internal martial art, similar to Tai Chi) known for its circular movements). This course introduces the student to the stances, blocks, strikes, and kata for this particular sword and how it may be used alone or in combination with a shield.

The shield used in this course is constructed of bamboo and covered with a cloth. Although, it would generally not withstand heavy impact, its practical use is included in this course for informational use only.

The baqgua sword kata uses graceful and flowing movements and is demonstrated at two different speeds (slow and full speed) and from three different perspectives (front, left side, and right side).

This course is an ideal teaching aid for review, rank testing, competition, and self-defense.

Grandmaster Michael A. Stelzer holds several advanced ranks (5th Dan and above) in the styles of Kung Fu, Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Kali/Arnis, Kobudo, Karate, Hapkido, and other various styles of martial arts.
