Around 63% of adults in the UK are above a healthy weight, half of those are struggling with obesity. The USA and other countries around the world are struggling with an increasingly larger obesity problem.
One in three children is overweight when leaving their primary school and one in five of those are living with obesity. With children from lower-income families or from ethnic minority backgrounds are much more likely to be more overweight.
Covid 19 has seen obese or overweight people more likely to go to the hospital, Intensive care, or sadly die. People who are overweight and obese are more likely to suffer from co-morbidities (cancers, type 2 diabetes, cardiac problems) from too much weight and sedentary lifestyles.

You will be informed of the surprising statistics on obesity and to answer the questions: why is it happening, why such a large number of us are overweight or obese?
This course will examine and understand why obesity is affecting different sections of the community harder than others. Learn what the government (and others) have done so far and what you can do next.
You will equip yourselves as voters and consumers to ensure companies stick to the law, when and if the government implements rules. This course should therefore equip you as a teacher or a parent or any adult with responsibility for the health of the young in our community, to stem the flow and rising tide of obesity in our children.
We will examine the tools and ideas to use to help yourself and others. Therefore, adopting new strategies for coping right here, right now, and is achievable. Finally, Equip yourself to succeed with long term support strategies for the future
