I developed this class around the time the East Coast of the USA was quarantined. This is a prerecorded course with other people interested in real estate. I had always wanted to develop a course focused on teaching people interested in real estate investing how to think critically and question real estate investments. I had run into instances where someone pitching me on a deal and would state a return but not know how to explain how the return was calculated. Unfortunately, most people wouldn't know that returns can be stated in different manners to sound more impressive. I wanted to teach people the basics of finance to empower them in that setting. While doing that I realized the fundamentals of real estate were not taught in glamorized courses with gurus and an academic approach with real-world examples would likely help people.

This course is intended to give you an academic understanding of real estate and real estate investing by using some real-world examples. The focus of this class was geared towards a new investor looking to better understand residential real estate. However, the class also exposes the students to commercial real estate and how to use that knowledge.

In this class, we try to get the audience to think critically and question real estate investments based on the fundamentals i.e. how to properly compare returns for different investments.

We will cover basic finance principles, the economics of real estate, mortgages, estates, leases, and financial analysis. You will want to have excel or google sheets available to you.
