This seascape course teaches you how to paint a crashing wave in soft pastels. This course will guide you through every process of drawing and painting a wave, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist in pastels. Soft pastels can be diluted with water or rubbing alcohol to create a rich base of translucent colors when using an underpainting technique. The purpose of the underpainting is to establish a solid base that won't mix with the colors of pastel applied over it. It eliminates smudging and mixing of colors so the pastel remains fresh when applied over the base layer. Then, you will learn pastel techniques on how to paint seawater, seafoam, and water reflections.
