The structuralist movement is probably one of the most significant shifts in literary studies, especially because of its focus on structure rather than the individual utterance. As a student and scholar of English Literature, you could always use some basic knowledge of structuralism to further improve your comprehension of literary texts.

This course caters to the learning of graduate and undergraduate English students (preferably those who have taken my beginner theory course. Comprising video lectures and digital print sources, this course will help you learn the basics of structuralism and the structuralist criticism and then offer you further instruction in using the theory in your work.

I will provide clear explanation of the major structuralist texts and also discuss some example essays that use the structuralist mode of criticism. This course coupled with the reading materials (provided under specific lessons) will teach you some of the following:
