On this course we switch to the software Freeagent, from Quickbooks desktop. This course is ideal if you're switching from any software to Freeagent. What we shall cover:

• Check your opening balances from the old system match

• Add opening balances

• Set up the system

• Amend the Chart of Accounts

• Connect the bank

• Do the bookkeeping

• Add new customer and supplier details

• Post customer invoices to the sales ledger

• Post supplier invoices to the purchase ledger

• Use the bank feed

• Prepare the VAT return

• Reconcile the bank

• Post journals

• Produce month-end reports

The course is ideal if you are a Bookkeeper or an accountant or a business owner. If you are new to using Freeagent or want to switch to Freeagent or want to set up Freeagent - then this course is for you. The reason for the switch (not that anything is wrong with Quickbooks Desktop), but was simply to have the records on a cloud-based system.

Your course tutor has been using Freeagent since 2011 and is a partner of the software. You'll be guided through how to enter opening balances into the new system, the bookkeeping is done, the VAT return is filed, the figures are taken off the system and the year-end accounts are filed. It's an extremely practical session. You'll be shown how you can access the software for free. If you have a business bank with Natwest, RBS or Mettle (all part of the Natwest Group) then you can access Freeagent for free. If you paying for software, this can be a significant saving. In this case, if you're moving from a desktop-based software to a cloud, it's extremely convenient to be able to access your books from anywhere at any time. No need for annual updates as the system is continuously updating itself in the background. This is the benefit of when you move to a cloud-based software.
