Chess is 99% tactics. To win games, one must spot good moves that the opponent cannot defend against. One can find such winning moves only by understanding the common tactics in chess. This course will teach you all the basic tactics and will also train you to spot them in actual games.

In the 1st section, we will look all the basic tactics - Forks, Pins, Skewers, Removing the defender & Hanging Piece. Fork is a double attack - when 2 pieces are attacked at the same time. A pin is when you make your opponent's piece unable to move. And a skewer is the reverse of a pin. Hanging piece and removing the defender are crude street tactics - very simple to understand.

In the 2nd section, we will train ourselves to spot all the basic tactics easily. And then we will learn a deadly tactic called Discovered attack. This can be a very powerful weapon to use in your games. We will also then learn a nasty tactic called Deflection. Deflection can prove very annoying for your opponents. And then we will learn how to trap pieces. And finally, we will learn the most beautiful pattern in chess - the smothered mate. It is a thing of beauty. In a smothered mate, we sacrifice our queen to checkmate his king with our knight.
