Introduction to stress (mental health 101)
Stress is a normal reaction to stressful situations. Most of us feel stressed on a day to day basis, and stress isn't all bad. Stress can help motivate you to tackle big challenges and push your limits. To get the most out of stress, however, it's important to learn how to manage stress levels effectively.
Managing stress
Chronic stress, however, can harm us. When stress hits, it can lead to muscle tension (leading to pain), high blood pressure, and leaves us feeling burned out and feeling overwhelmed. In long run, such chronic stress leads to physical health problems. People do try to help themselves reduce stress. But in absence of proper guidance, many ends up drinking alcohol to deal with stress which further harms their body. There are people on the other end of the spectrum who have tried everything they read about stress relievers from belly breathing, progressive muscle relaxation techniques, getting a good night's sleep, deep breathing exercises or simply deep breath, avoid unhealthy habits, relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, healthy diet or balanced diet, physical activity or exercise regularly, stress ball, time management skills, positive attitude, tai chi to avoid stress or to de stress themselves. Research suggests that all these healthy ways of reducing stress does helps us lower stress to an extent, decrease stress hormones, switch off the fight or flight response, helps in disease prevention, and relieve stress. But with little ability to stick to them or they still feel something is missing. And they are right. There's a lot more to the science of managing long term stress.
The stress management course
"The 5-Part Stress-Reduction Program for the Overwhelmed" is a step-by-step guide to help you build resilience and become more stress resilient. It consists of a practical and easy-to-follow framework for stress management and is designed for people who are excessively stressed in their day to day life and wish to find a way out of it.
The goal of this course is to help you with stress management using different stress relief methods.
The course will teach you methods that have been proven to build resilience and strengthen your emotional health. With these practical tools and techniques, you'll be equipped with everything necessary to handle both stressors in life and in business as well as maximize opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Building resilience means building 2 key things:
The ability to minimise the effect of stress OR to be able to reverse its effects faster.
Channelling the headspace and energy (now no longer held hostage by stress) into the opportunity to thrive.
Doing "1" alone will help you move from Not OK to OK
Doing "2" as well will set down the conditions for you to flourish (why free up all that time and energy just to spend it on other people's psychodramas instead of your own goals!?)
