The Business Buff is a project by Arkeva, it includes courses designed for small business owners, entrepreneurs or anyone looking to expand their business knowledge.

These courses are part of a larger series which equip entrepreneurs to run their businesses confidently. Our objective with the courses is to provide an end to end base of learning material and supporting information for entrepreneurs to develop a deep understanding of the impact of each business pillar on their business and its success.

This course is the absolute first step in our journey it includes the following concepts as topics of importance:

Legal Personality:

This is where it all begins, understanding legal personality will give you an understanding of why people create companies and the type of rights that are necessary to run a business effectively. This effectively deals with the type of rights we as natural persons have by default and how and why the law allows us to create other juristic persons like companies.

Types of Business Structures:

This section details what type of structures are available to you as a business owner when deciding on how to begin trade. We go into Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships, Private Companies, Personal Liability Companies and Public Companies, we look at the differences between each of these types of businesses and the benefits of each.

Company Registration:

In this part of the course we detail how you can go about registering a company, the platforms that you may use to do so, what sort of information is available, lead times and costs. We also provide some supporting material you can use as checklists to ensure you are ready for the process.

Business Ownership:

In this chapter we dive into how business ownership works at its core, we explain the concept of share capital and look at the difference between alternative forms of share capital.
