There are 4 cases in the German language: nominative, genitive, dative and accusative. Without them the sentences would not be understandable. The four cases express the relationship between the individual parts of the sentence. Often, nouns and their companions (pronouns, articles, adjectives, ...) or pronouns are in the cases. For that, they must be refused. That is, you adapt its form to the case, person, gender and number.
