Sight reading may seem unnecessary to some and not needed but as a true well defined musician its just another stepping stone to success. Sight reading allows to succeed as a musician convey your ideas and understand others ideas in a moments notice. Also after practicing sight reading of other genres you will have broadened your abilities and your creative ability and possibly found a new fondness of a certain style of music that you may have never given a chance, so don't short change yourself to just one idea or style. Typically as we get older our preferances change anyways you'll be surprised at the amount of music you will enjoy as you mature as a musician. One of those ways to grow is by sight reading music once you get it down so many new doors are opened and your abilities will blossom. So enjoy these lessons and challenge yourself everything that was ever worth accomplishing didn't happen from a lack of work, effort and going out of your comfort zone. Step out of the box and venture into a new mindset and this journey will be ever so fulfilling.
