Ayurveda is the oldest surviving medical system in the world. It is known as the sister science of Yoga and is the science of life. Translated from the Sanskrit words Ayur (life) and Veda (knowledge) Ayurveda is a medical system from India with origins dating back over 5000 years.
Ayurveda is much more than just a system of medicine. It looks at an individual from a holistic perspective and embraces medical science, philosophy, psychology, alchemy, and spiritual understanding as well as astrology and astronomy. It includes lifestyle guidance, herbal medicine, nutrition, detoxification, massage, and other body work, plus spiritual practices.
